Alexander “Alex” Watson
License #: RS-78706
Alex was born and raised in the east coast town of Mystic, Connecticut, moving from house to house as his folks flipped each one into a profitable investment.
At the age of 16 , Alex was promoted to Dock Master at Seaport Marine, a 300 slip marina on 20 acres of land and dry dock. The years spent there were filled with lessons learned vicariously through the lives of yacht owners. If there is one investment that requires more upkeep than a house, its a boat.
At the age of 19, in his second year of undergraduate study at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Alex majored in hospitality and tourism management while simultaneously working as a resident manager for student housing. During his summers, he continued his work at the marina while also serving as a management intern for Hyatt Hotels. Immediately upon graduating college, Hyatt moved Alex to Oahu, Hawaii. Here he would lead teams of at times 200+ hard working individuals at the 1,230 room Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort. It was also here that he would meet the love of his life and marry.
In his 10+ years on Oahu, Alex facilitated 3 major hotel renovations, engaged in union labor negotiations, increased revenues year over year, improved customer and employee satisfaction scores, served as chairman for the Hyatt Green Team, as well as facilitated ownership and management company change overs. Alex was also part of the opening team for the brand new Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach, an office building converted into a hotel.
“One of my greatest takeaways from my time with Hyatt has been the importance of maintaining a strong and trusting relationship between the property owner and the property manager.”
After a decade of working in hotel management, Alex realized he could make a more meaningful impact on his community by shifting his skillset to residential real estate and property management.
“It slowly began to hit me… all this time in Hawaii I have been spinning my wheels serving tourists and off island investors. I wanted to use my knowledge and focus my energy to serve the local community.”
In 2015 Alex joined with David Moyer and Donnie Torres to found Hawaii Sands Realty. A company focussed on turning their clients’ properties around to work for the owner.
“My entire adult life has been dedicated to serving others and managing assets. I look forward to continuing this tradition of dedication with you.”
