Stretching along the Northern shore of the Middle Loch and West Loch of Pearl Harbor many of it’s surrounding communities are classified under Waipahu. Originally considered to be the islands capital by Hawaiian royalty because of its wealthy spring. Formally a plantation town, Waipahu is now primarily a series of newer residential communities. Known for it’s association with shopping district of Waikele a shopping destination popular among island residents and tourists for its variety of retail outlets, and ethnic and local dining. Also recognized for the Manulele Distillers distillery and several lavish Country clubs. Hawaiian Plantation Village is also located in Waipahu, a museum dedicated to those who worked and lived among the plantations.
